As advocates for special education, here are some of the services we provide:
- We attend IEPs with you and advocate for an IEP that provides appropriate special education goals for your child.
- We explain the IEP process. It is an often-convoluted maze that is very difficult to navigate without prior experience.
- We help families prepare for Special Education Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings in order to get the best results for the student with special needs.
- We strategize with parents to develop appropriate services, programs, and accommodations or modifications to meet the student’s individual needs.
- We accompany parents to school meetings, including IEPs. We are there to provide support, assistance, and direction.
- We interpret and prioritize support materials, propose goals and objectives, and provide or rehearse strategies for the meeting.
- We work collaboratively with parents and school staff to represent the student’s best interests in the educational process.
- We review all documentation including: files, assessments, report cards, observation reports, etc.
- We review IEPs or any other documents with parents before signing.
- We accompany families for classroom observation.
- We draft letters, responses, complaints, and written requests to school and district officials.
- We empower and educate families to strengthen their personal advocacy skills.
What advocates for special education cannot help you do:
We do not practice law. We are not attorneys and do not give legal advice.
We are well-versed in the laws and regulations of school districts and in federal and California state education laws.
We service California and surrounding states.
Please ask about our extended services if you live outside those areas! We may be able to help!
